Where to mail Forms 1099? The Internal Revenue Service requires Forms 1099 to be filed with them to report the information provided. This isn’t done by just mailing Form 1099 to the Internal Revenue Service. Before mailing Forms 1099 to the IRS, you must fill out Form 1096 first to mail the 1099.

If you’ve paid freelancers or independent contractors more than $600 during the tax year, you must furnish them with Form 1099. The Internal Revenue Service will require you to fill out Form 1096 for each type of information return. This also covers the Forms 1099 as they are an information return.

However, you aren’t required to file a separate Form 1096 for each 1099. You can simply file all of your Forms 1099 with the 1096 and mail them to the IRS. Here is where to mail Forms 1099 when filing with the IRS.

When mailing Forms 1099 or any other information return, make sure to select the types of Forms 1099 on the 1096 right. In addition to that, only mail these information returns via U.S. Postal Services. Do not use any other delivery service such as FedEx or UPS.
